About the project

#ASenseofEU is a two-year Erasmus+ project (2024-1-IS01-KA220-ADU-000251000) that brings together partners from Iceland, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and Romania to explore how communities in rural and remote areas can strengthen their sense of place and preserve intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in a rapidly changing world.

Many rural regions are rich in stories, traditions, crafts, food heritage, music, rituals, and community knowledge — yet these elements are often at risk of disappearing. Our project aims to valorise, protect, and transmit this cultural heritage by combining intergenerational collaboration with modern digital tools.

What We Aim to Achieve

Empower people in remote and marginalised areas

We support young adults (18–35) and older generations (55+) to connect, share knowledge, and collaborate through cultural experiences.

Digitise and preserve heritage

We train participants to use digital tools — cameras, tablets, audio recording, storytelling formats — to document and share ICH for future generations.

Strengthen a shared sense of identity

By collecting stories, mapping cultural elements, and engaging communities, we help people reconnect with their local heritage and environment.

Develop innovative educational resources

The project will produce a European toolkit, bringing together methods, case studies, and best practices from all partner countries.

Vision

To build a Europe where every community — no matter how small or remote — feels valuedwhere heritage is alive and shared, and where people of all ages take part in shaping the cultural story of their place.
